Abstract.  Intensive  degradation  of  glaciation  promotes  the  activation  of  slope  processes  such  as mudflows, landslides, avalanches. Assessment of the current degradation of glaciation of the basin of the rivers Cherek‑Bezengiysky is conducted by the state of glaciers of Bezengi and Mizhirgi since the late XIXth century. The assessment of the rate of retreat of these glaciers from the end of XXth century to the present time is given. The dependence of the rate of deviation from the absolute height of the ends of glaciers and their exposition is indicated. It is shown that the reactions of different types of glaciers in different regions of the Central Caucasus to climate warming are the same. The process of

degradation promotes toe the increasing ot the mudflow activity, as the retreat of glaciers increases the area of distribution of loose friable detrital material.

Key words: valley glaciers, Bezengi glacier, Mijirghi glacier, retreat of glaciers, the rate of retreat of glaciers, mudflows.
